THE CHOSEN

In 2018 The Chosen a television series on the life of Jesus Christ. It is like nothing I have ever seen before. It speaks to the humanity of Jesus. Created and produced by Dallas Jenkins the son of Jerry B. Jenkins, a Christian novelist, who is  best known for the Left Behind series, one of the highest selling book series of all time, selling over 60 million copies.

The Chosen Season One was widely broadcast through YouTube in April 2020 and has reached over 500 million people around the world. The goal is 1 billion and they are well on their way to achieving their goal. The cast is par excellence and each brings a new view of the life during the  Jesus’ time on earth. For instance Jonathan Roumie plays Jesus who brings the gospel and has a bit of a humorous side.  Shahar Isaac plays Simon Peter presenting the life of the  fisherman as rambunctious and a bit on the rowdy side while being very loving to his wife. Paras Patel plays Matthew as a person who is on the spectrum ( Asperger’s Syndrome)as well as the hated tax collector. Eric Avari plays as Nicodemus, who is a character actor known for his roles in such films as The Beast (1988), Encino Man (1992), Stargate (1994), Independence Day (1996), The Mummy (1999), Planet of the Apes (2001), Home Alone 4 (2002), Mr. Deeds (2002), Daredevil (2003), and Flight of the Living Dead: Outbreak on a Plane (2007) and more.   In his role as Nicodemus his heart wants so much  to follow Jesus but stands afar as he is of age and the love of Jesus tells him how he understands. The list goes on and on. Absolutely spectacular.
